RECALLS: Subaru Legacy/Outback, Nissan Cube, BMW 5 Series & Jaguar XF/XK
A few recalls have been announced recently affecting BMW, Jaguar, Nissan, and Subaru vehicles. If your model is listed here, the manufacturer should notify you of the recall and provide the fixes at no charge. Customer-service phone numbers are listed below, if you have questions.
2010-2011 BMW 5 Series and 5 Series Gran Turismo
BMW is recalling certain 2010-2011 5 Series and 5 Series Gran Turismos due to a problem with the fuel level sensor. The sensor within the fuel tank could become wedged against the tank and could display more fuel than what is available.
BMW has not yet announced a solution to the problem. Contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417.
2010 Jaguar XF, 2010-2011 Jaguar XK
Jaguar is recalling over 5,000 XF and XKs due to a problem with the in-tank electric fuel pump. The pump may not correctly activate and energize after a vehicle starts, which could result in an inadequate supply of fuel to the engine. If this occurs, the engine may stumble or cut out, which could increase the risk of a crash.

2009-2010 Nissan Cube
Nissan is recalling 46,000 Cube’s for failing to meet federal safety standards for fuel system integrity. During a crash test, when the vehicle was rotated, the amount of fuel that leaked exceeded allowable limits, which could result in a fire.
Dealers will develop a special protector and attach it to the gasoline recirculation tube free of charge. Contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.
2010-2011 Subaru Legacy and Outback
Subaru is recalling over 800 Legacy and Outbacks due to an error that omitted a lubrication hole in the six-speed manual transmission. If the transmission gears are not lubricated properly, a “groaning” sound may develop, alerting the driver of a problem. If the driver ignores the sound, the gears will eventually break and cause a loss of vehicle power, which could result in a crash.
Subaru will repair the vehicles by drilling an oil lubrication hole and replace internal parts if necessary. Contact Subaru at 1-800-782-2783.
