Audi now has a new new flagship for it's line of sports cars. The Audi R8 5.2 gets its 5.2-liter V10 from the Lamborghini Gallardo, slightly modified for use in the all wheel drive coupe. It’s prices starts at $180,000 right in line with other high end performance cars. The engine is virtually identical to the R8 LMS racing car that was developed for GT3 racing. The price for the Audi R8 LMS race car is estimated at $330,000. The Audi R8 5.2 liter V10 engine produces 518 horsepower at 390 pounds of torque you can be ordered it in two formats. A six speed manual gearbox or a R tronic or tiptronic as we call it steering paddles. Audi claims that the R8 can go from 0 to 60 mph in less then 3.9 seconds with a top end speed of 196 mph. They also claim the fuel economy averages around 17 mpg city . The new Audi R8 comes with a lunch control program that electronically controls the tire-slip for quick starts it is available with both transmissions. The Audi R8 is equipped with High-performance ceramic brakes but composite discs are optional. The R8 rides on 235/35R-19 rubber on the front and 295/30R-19s in the rear. To make it distinguishable from the standard eight cylinder R8 model Audi has made subtle changes. Besides all LED headlamps the Audi R8 5.2 has wider side sills, a larger rear window, a single chrome grill and a matte aluminum exhaust. The Audi R8 also has accented side blades, front air inlets and front apron lip painted in high-gloss black unlike the from the standard eight cylinder R8
