NEW 2009 Ford Ranger on sale now
With early plans to discontinue the Ranger, Ford did a rethink. Rightfully so with the way the economy has taken the word by surprise. High fuel prices along with record job losses the ranger one again fits into the equation.
Known as the U.S’s most fuel-efficient pickup Ford totally redesigned the Ranger from everything starting with the bumper with better aerodynamics to a Personal Safety System, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and SecuriLock now offered on all models
The Ford Ranger is offers three options of engines all with the choice of either a five-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The base model The Ranger XL is equipped with a 2.3 liter all-aluminum four-cylinder, good for 143 horsepower at 5,250 rpm along with 154 lb-ft of torque at 3,750 rpm.
The Ranger XLT has an all-iron 3.0 liter V6 doling out 148 hp at 4,900 rpm coupled to 180 lb-ft of torque at 3,950 rpm.
The Ranger Sport or FX4 is equipped with a the same German-built V6 found in the Mustang pony car, displacing 4.0 liters split among the six cylinders in a V configuration. It produces 207 hp at 5,250 rpm and 239 lb-ft at 3,000 rpm, down slightly in this application but tuned to deliver the power slightly lower in the idol range as befits a truck. The four-cylinder Ranger is not equipped four-wheel drive. Braking is done with a front disc, rear drum set-up, with standard ABS.
