GMAC Expands Financing with Taxpayers money!
GMAC LLC announced today that it will immediately be offering financing for more US consumers, This just after GMAC agreed to sell a $5 billion stake to the government yesterday.
The financing will be provided to retail buyers of new cars and trucks who have credit scores better then 620. This past October GMAC put restrictions on loans to borrowers with beacon scores of less then 700 to control its expositor during the credit crisis.
Credit scores range between 300 and 850, analysts consider a score of 620 to be the line between sub-prime and more credit creditworthy bowers.
GMAC President Bill Muir said in a statement today "Opening access to credit for those with credit bureau scores of 621 or better will allow us to return to more normal levels of financing volume and should help in efforts to stabilize the U.S. auto industry,"
To improve retail financing rates, GMAC will expand its financing policy for both new and certified used vehicles. The dealer wholesale financing will not be changed though this process.
General Motors also announced new incentives related to its financing programs.
Available through January 5th On a select amount of 2008 models, GMAC will offer zero percent to 4.9 percent financing on loans up to 5 years ,
GMAC will also offer 3.9 percent to 5.9 percent on some 2009 model vehicles, with a cash discount ranging from $500 to $4,250.
It seem that the zero percent financing is only offered on slow selling sports-utilities vehicles like the TrailBlaer, Envoy and select Saab models.
General Motors is very optimistic that the lower financing costs will encourage customers to start buying again. But analysts predict the slowest sales month to come..
