GM's LS9 supercharged V8, Corvette motor
GM's LS9 supercharged V8
By DALE JEWETT
Somebody slipped an envelope under the door of Jalopnik last night, and the boys there found some General Motors-sourced shots of the supercharged V8 that's going to power the big-bang Corvette model to be unveiled at the Detroit auto show in January.
GM isn't happy to see this stuff out there. But here's what can be gleaned from the pics:
The engine is designated LS9 Displacement is 6.2 liters A twin-screw supercharger sits on top the intake manifold. Liquid-to-air intercoolers are integrated into the supercharger housing. A beauty cover, trimmed in blue, sits on top that supercharger.
We doubt this will be the last leak of info on the new ZR-1, Blue Devil or whatever the killer Corvette will be named, before the Detroit show gets going.
