701-horsepower Ford GT
Geiger Cars Adds 200 Horsepower to the Ford GT
MUNICH, Germany — If you've heard of Geiger Cars, then you'll know just how much this Munich-based tuning company loves making American cars and sport-utilities faster and a lot crazier. The company's latest creation is this, a 701-horsepower Ford GT that is limited to a top speed of only 211 mph.
We first heard of Geiger Cars via its wacky work on various Hummer sport-utes. Does the world need Hummers with scissor-doors, superchargers and 28-inch chrome alloy wheels? Apparently it does, since Geiger Cars is still building them and customers are still buying them.
Compared to their über-Hummers, Geiger Cars' tuning work for the Ford GT seems classy and subdued. Out of production since 2006, the Ford GT's standard 500 horsepower and 205-mph top speed doesn't exactly strike us as being in need of improvement.

Nonetheless, Geiger Cars will gladly step in and add a larger compressor and increase supercharger boost pressure from 0.8 to 1.25 bar. Revised engine electronics, larger throttle valves and a sport air filter push the GT's power output to 701 hp. Geiger Cars electronically limits top speed to 211 mph. Any faster and the GT's tires would turn into quivering globs of black goo.
Strangely, Geiger Cars' Ford GT has an identical 3.5-second 0-to-60-mph time as the stock GT. This is proof that even Geiger Cars' own custom-made (and quite handsome) 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels struggle to put the car's massive power down to the pavement. The quarter-mile time does go down a notch, from 11.6 seconds to 10.9 in the
Geiger Cars Ford GT.
A revised exhaust system and sport suspension package — which lowers the car up to 2.3 inches — round out the performance modifications. And yes, Geiger Cars will also build you a Hummer SUV to match the look (if not the performance) of your Ford GT.
