Ford Verve Concept:
Frankfurt Preview: Ford Verve Concept
EDMUNDS
COLOGNE, Germany — Ford will introduce a new concept called the Verve at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show in September. The concept applies the company's "kinetic design" philosophy to minicars — and gives us a hint of what the next Fiesta will look like.
The new Fiesta will be the sibling to the recently unveiled Mazda 2. The sharp-edged car from Ford's Japan affiliate is a new take on the company's established "zoom-zoom" philosophy. Mazda did much of the engineering, so Ford only had to adjust the new platform to its own needs. The Verve was designed by Ford in England and Germany; the car's turn at Frankfurt will help Ford gauge public reaction.
The Verve concept is decked out in a festive clear-coat magenta paint color that Ford calls "a daring declaration of individualism and exclusivity."
Previously the Fiesta name has covered different models produced by various plants all over the world. For the first time, this Fiesta will be a truly global car, and will be produced in Mexico, India and South America.
What this means to you: A bold look from Ford is a welcome idea.
