Revealed: 2008 Aston Martin DBS, EDMUNDS
ONTEREY, California — Aston Martin likes to describe its latest supercar, the DBS, as a cross between a road car (DB9) and a racecar (DBR9). First seen with Daniel Craig behind the wheel in the James Bond flick Casino Royale, the rest of us can find out for ourselves when the production model debuts Friday at Pebble Beach.
The two-seater's 6.0-liter V12 develops an ample 510 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque — enough to propel the DBS from zero to 60 in less than 4.3 seconds, with a top speed of 191 mph.
The lightweight DBS is the first-production Aston to use carbon-fiber body panels. It is also fitted with adaptive dampers, carbon-ceramic brakes and a bonded-aluminum inner body structure.
Deliveries will begin in early 2008. Aston will announce prices officially next month at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show.
What this means to you: Road car or racecar? You be the judge.
